Life story

A Windsor Freeman

Thomas Holcombe emigrated to Massachusetts in 1633 and settled in Dorchester the following year, where he was admitted a freeman before moving on to Windsor, Connecticut, by 1635 and then to Poquonnock around 1639, where he purchased land to serve as his permanent home. He served on a Connecticut jury in 1654, and by the time of his death had assembled a substantial estate of farmland, woodland, and a share of a shared property called Tinker's Farm. Thomas died in Windsor on September 7, 1657; his estate, appraised at nearly 295 pounds, was divided among his widow and five children.
