Life story

A Simsbury Militia Captain

Thomas Holcomb was born March 30, 1666, in Windsor, Connecticut, son of Joshua Holcomb, and bought land in Simsbury in 1697, the same year he signed the town church's covenant. He rose to the rank of militia captain and built a substantial estate. Thomas wrote his will in March 1729 and died in Simsbury on March 5, 1731; his estate was appraised at nearly 870 pounds.
