Life story

An Attleboro Town Clerk

Daniel Jenks was born April 19, 1663, in Lynn, Massachusetts, son of the inventor Joseph Jenks, and served Attleboro, Massachusetts, as selectman from 1697 to 1704 and as town clerk beginning in 1699. In 1695 he took on guardianship of his wife's son from a previous marriage, agreeing to raise the boy and teach him reading, writing, and blacksmithing until he turned twenty. Daniel died in 1736.
