Life story

A Providence Descendant

Patience Hopkins was born in 1734, daughter of Ezekiel Hopkins, and inherited five pounds from her father in 1762. She married John Seamans and moved with him from Scituate, Rhode Island, to Killingly, Connecticut, and finally to Clarendon, Vermont. Patience descended from Thomas Hopkins, an original settler of Providence, Rhode Island, and was a second cousin, several generations removed, of Stephen Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She died May 1, 1791.
