Life story

A Frontier Wife

Apema Seamans, also recorded as Athena Brown, was born around 1798–1800 in Vermont, the daughter of John Seamans and Sarah Westcott, and married George Ellison Brown on December 12, 1816, in Madison County, New York. The family moved westward over the following decades, from Oswego County, New York, to McHenry County, Illinois, by 1850, and finally to Walworth County, Wisconsin, where by 1860 Apema was living in the household of her son, Isaac Horace Brown. She died on May 30, 1867.
