Life story
A Rhode Island Freeman
John Wood was born around 1590 and settled in Newport, Rhode Island, by 1643, purchasing land there before moving to Portsmouth around 1648, where he became a freeman and continued acquiring property near the town's border with Newport. John died around 1655 without a will; his estate was inventoried that April.
