Life story

From Ipswich to Farmington

John North sailed from London aboard the ship Susan and Ellen, arriving in Boston on April 16, 1635, and settled first in Ipswich, Massachusetts, where he held and traded small parcels of land through the 1630s and '40s. By 1652 he had moved to Farmington, Connecticut, buying a house lot and additional meadowland there. John wrote his will in February 1692, and died shortly before or after; his estate, valued at 157 pounds, was divided among his son Thomas, his son Joseph, and his daughters Mary and Sarah.
