A Bavarian Midwife in Indiana
Anna Margaretha “Margaret” Rosenberger was born on April 10, 1827, in Schimborn, in Bavaria's Mömbris district, and crossed the Atlantic with her parents and sisters in 1840, arriving in Baltimore aboard the ship Clementine. She married Simon Amrhein in Franklin County, Indiana, on June 20, 1848, and worked as a midwife to numerous women in the area over the following decades. Anna Margaretha died in Ray Township, Franklin County, Indiana, on December 19, 1909.
