Life story

A Colchester Militia Officer

Noah Welles was born July 26, 1666, and served as an ensign and later lieutenant in New London, Connecticut's trained militia band before settling in Colchester, Connecticut, where he was a prominent figure in church and town affairs. He died in 1712, leaving a substantial estate of over 400 pounds — including a dwelling house, 300 acres of land, livestock, and household goods — which was divided among his widow, Mary, his four sons, and three daughters.
