Life story

A Killingly Yeoman

Isaiah Brown, son of John Brown, farmed in Killingly, Connecticut, from 1776, having received forty-five acres of land from his father that year. He worked first as a husbandman and later a yeoman, buying and selling small parcels of land into the early 1800s. Isaiah died between March and November of 1816; his estate, probated that December, was valued at over $1,050 in real estate and buildings along with several hundred dollars in personal property and outstanding debts owed to him.
