Life story

A Bavarian Farmer in Indiana

John Hahn was born around 1821–1830 in Bavaria and emigrated to Dearborn County, Indiana, around 1843, at about thirteen years old. He farmed there and later in Decatur County for the rest of his life, building his landholding to some two hundred acres with two houses and livestock scales by the early 1880s. He died at home in Indiana, near Harris City, on February 28, 1885, and was buried from the Catholic church in Greensburg.
