Life story

A Vermont Settler's Wife

Amie Carpenter was born November 26, 1725, in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, daughter of Abiel Carpenter, and married Benjamin Carpenter in Providence, Rhode Island, in October 1745. The couple moved to Guilford, Vermont, in 1770, where Benjamin became a leading figure in the territory's fight for statehood. Amie died July 1, 1803.
