Life story

From Upper Canada to Kansas

Reziah Force was born February 12, 1788, in Sussex County, New Jersey, and married in Louth Township, Upper Canada, in December 1808, having crossed with the Force family's broader migration north. He served as a soldier on the British side during the War of 1812 and later worked as a carpenter. Reziah and his family moved repeatedly across the Midwest in his later decades — recorded living with his son Nathaniel's household in Illinois and Indiana in 1850 and 1860, and with another son's family in Illinois in 1870 — before eventually settling in Wheaton, Kansas, where he died on March 4, 1875, at the age of eighty-seven.
