Life story

A Connecticut Land Trader

Joseph Slafter was born around 1698, the son of John Slafter, and moved among several eastern Connecticut towns over his lifetime — Tolland, Willington, Mansfield, and finally Killingly, where he farmed near the Rhode Island line from the mid-1730s through the mid-1740s. In 1724 he signed the petition seeking incorporation of Willington as its own town. Joseph died around 1787.
