Margriet van Etten was baptized March 2, 1707, at the Old Dutch Church in Kingston, New York, daughter of Pieter van Etten and Eva de Hooges, with her mother's sister and brother-in-law standing as witnesses. She married around 1723 and lived between Kingston and Rhinebeck, New York.
