Life story

From Łomża to New York

Abraham Lazansky was the father of Rachel (Rae) Lazansky, Ben's great-great-grandmother, who was born around 1874 to 1877 in the Łomża area of Russian Poland. His wife was Elsie Mayes. Rae's records say she came to America with her parents as a girl, most likely around 1887 or 1888, so Abraham seems to have brought his family to New York in those years. Besides Rae, his daughters included Lena, who married Noah Schlossberg, and another who married a man named Rosengarten. Abraham's own dates have not been found; he is buried with his wife somewhere in New York City.
