Life story

A Yearly Remembrance

Friedrich Neyses managed a landed estate in Taben, in the Electorate of Trier (now Germany), on behalf of its owner and served as a member of the church synod. In 1678 he and his wife established a Jahrgezeit, an annual remembrance mass, for themselves and their parents, pledging a yearly payment to keep it going and hoping his descendants would continue the tradition. Friedrich died in Taben on December 11, 1705.
