A Revolutionary Soldier's Farm
John Shoemaker was born in 1759 in Loudoun County, Virginia, and served as a soldier in the American Revolutionary War, likely in Captain William Heyser's company of Pennsylvania's German Regiment. He settled afterward in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, buying land there in 1792. John died August 11, 1815.
