Life story
A Maidservant's Short Life
Maria Magdalena Brand was born on August 27, 1792, in Orsfeld, in what is now western Germany, the daughter of Peter Brand and Christina Junck, and worked as a maidservant in the local steel industry before marrying Matthias Bedessem in 1816. She died in Bitburg on September 21, 1830, at the age of thirty-eight.
