Life story

A Schoolmaster and Postmaster

Richard Moore was born in 1828 in Devonshire, England, and worked as a schoolteacher and singing-school instructor in Ontario, Canada, marrying fellow teacher Eliza Frances Dickenson in 1858. He later farmed in Fullarton Township, Perth County, served as township clerk, and was appointed postmaster of the Gowrie post office in 1881, shortly before his death there in 1881.
