Feivel Zahler was born around 1858 and worked as a tailor in Rohatyn, in the Austrian province of Galicia, for at least five decades, documented there from 1880 until his death on June 23, 1928. He married Chana Poczter, and their daughter Clara emigrated to New York in 1920 to join her husband, Harry Weber.
