Alice de Audley ★

Alice de Audley was born around 1300, daughter of Hugh de Audley, 1st Baron Audley of Stratton Audley, and Isolde le Rous.

First Marriage

Alice's first husband was Ralph de Greystoke, 1st Baron Greystoke, by whom she was left a widow while still a young woman.

Marriage to Ralph Neville

On January 14, 1326, Alice married Ralph Neville, 2nd Baron Neville of Raby, who would go on to command the English victory at the Battle of Neville's Cross in 1346. Together they had thirteen children, including John Neville, who succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Neville, and Alexander Neville, later Archbishop of York.

Death

Alice de Audley died January 11, 1374, at Greystoke, Northumberland, outliving her husband by several years. She shares a damaged tomb with Ralph in the south transept of Durham Cathedral.
