Family Background

Maud de Prendergast was born March 17, 1242, in Ireland, daughter of Sir Gerald de Prendergast of Beauvoir and his second wife Matilda de Burgh, daughter of Richard Mor de Burgh; her great-grandfather Maurice de Prendergast had taken part in the original Cambro-Norman invasion of Ireland, and her paternal grandmother Maud de Quincy descended from Strongbow himself through his illegitimate daughter Basilie de Clare.

First Two Marriages

Maud's first husband, David FitzMaurice, whom she married in childhood, died by March 17, 1249 — her seventh birthday — without issue. She then married Maurice de Rochford and had children with him before his death sometime before May 1258.

Marriage to Maurice FitzGerald

Between 1258 and October 1259 Maud married her final husband, Maurice FitzGerald, 3rd Lord of Offaly and Justiciar of Ireland, with whom she had two daughters: Juliana FitzMaurice, who married Thomas de Clare, Lord of Thomond, and later two further husbands; and Amabel FitzMaurice, who married but had no children.

Death

Maud died before 1273; her widower Maurice remarried in 1273 to Emmeline Longespee, but had no further children.
