Life story
A Cooper on the Move
Johnathan Mead, known as “the Cooper,” was born August 5, 1684, in Greenwich, Connecticut, son of John Mead, and purchased land there in 1706 before eventually relocating to Crum Elbow in the Nine Partners patent of Dutchess County, New York, where he and his brother received land from their parents and father-in-law in 1728. Johnathan died May 13, 1754, in Dutchess County.
