Life story
An Original Proprietor of Stamford
William Mead was born in December 1592 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, and emigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1635, settling first in Wethersfield before moving to Stamford, Connecticut, in 1641 as one of the town's original forty-two proprietors, receiving a five-acre home lot that December. William died in Stamford between 1657 and 1663.
